An action platformer in which Veve, a mischievous jester deer, accidentally shatters a crystalline star and releases an evil spirit, then sets out to collect the fragments and undo the damage. Every hazard is fatal on a single hit and the levels can be tackled in any order. Four playable characters play differently: the agile Veve, the spinning A.J. Nova, the floating snake Estrella and Appleonia, an elephant who shoots peanuts.
